The Philosophy of the Dance Studio is to provide students of all ages a caring atmosphere in which they can learn and grow as individuals as well as artists.
Gain confidence, poise, and a love and understanding of the art of dance. Serious students will be encouraged to prepare for their Cecchetti ballet exams. These are externally examined by the Cecchetti Society of Canada who have international recognition and are committed to the highest standards of training for dancers and teachers.
There are so many benefits of dancing! Improve your muscle tone, strength, posture, flexibility, coordination and weight management. An elegant carriage of the body and self-confidence emerge through the art of dance. The dance experience becomes an outlet for creativity and a way to express oneself.
We strive to create an atmosphere that is loving, respectful, challenging and enjoyable for all. Everyone is given personal attention and is made to feel at home.

COSTUMES & PERFORMANCES
Our annual dance rehearsals and recitals will be held during the first weekend in June. Location to be announced at a later date. A costume fee is required and will be added to your Term 2 payment. This fee is required in order to participate in the recital. A balance may be due upon receipt of the costume. Costume deposits are non-refundable.
Regular attendance and participation is required by all students. A student’s personal progress as well as class performance is a reflection of proper attendance. All students are encouraged to progress at their own abilities. The more classes taken, the faster the progress. You will be notified if your child is ready to be tested and move into the next level. Class placement will be decided by the teacher.
Most tap, ballet and jazz classes are based on an educational graded dance system of instructions with frequent exam sessions to show accomplishments. ONLY A TEACHER CAN DETERMINE IF YOUR CHILD IS READY TO TAKE AN EXAM. Students will be notified if eligible, and a fee will apply. All examinations take place in the spring.

Dear Families and Dancers,
The Dance Studio of Académie Ste-Cécile is moving forward with much excitement to begin our 2021-2022 dance season September 13, 2021. We encourage you to register early as some of our classes will be soon filled to our prescribed capacity limits. You can register by clicking the tab “Classes and Schedules“.
Adhering to directives of our Health Unit, all classes will be in-person as well as online. Families may opt for either learning method.
As of date, the following safety precautions are in place for students coming on-campus for in-person classes:
- A COVID-19 screening questionnaire must be completed and presented to the teacher before dropping off your dancer/s. LINK: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/
- Temperatures will be taken upon entering the building.
- Masks must be worn upon entering and leaving the building and for the duration of the stay in any of the ASCIS facilities.
Teachers and staff will be wearing masks at all times.
- Dancer may take off their masks only during class time and only whenever they find it too hard to keep them on while dancing.
All dancers must be responsible to be socially distanced at all times (i.e., upon entering, using and leaving the ASCIS facilities, while dancing , etc.).
- All dancers must bring all their supplies in one bag (or plastic bin) which must go home with them after class.
- All dancers must bring their own water bottle. The drinking fountains are not in service for the time being.
- Parents are to drop-off their dancer/s at the door and pick them up in the same area after their class will be finished. Therefore, unless for medical reasons and/or supervision of younger children (3-7yrs), parents must not enter the ASCIS facility: they must wait for their children outside and/or in their parked vehicles.
- All barres and surfaces will be disinfected between each class as directed by the Board of Health.
- The Surgically Air Purifiers and other such units will be operating to sanitize the air.
- Although in-person classes are the preferred method of learning, the online option remains available for anyone who wishes to continue learning via Zoom.
Looking forward to seeing you all and dancing together!

“My family has been with the Dance Studio at Académie Ste-Cécile for over a decade. In this time, I’ve found that the dance teachers at the studio are nurturing, highly qualified, and create a positive environment that allows for the students’ confidence to flourish as they develop their skills as dancers. The attention to detail and discipline instilled in the students through their dance lessons are skills that are applicable to any path in life. The teachers at the studio have taught the students in a way that allows for confidence to grow. Additionally, the studio’s organization for events such as recitals makes it fun to participate. Overall, the Dance Studio of Académie Ste-Cécile is a positive environment and acts as a second home to my two daughters.” – S. DeVries
“Our three daughters took ballet lessons at Académie Ste-Cécile from 1998 to 2018 and we have nothing but positive things to say about our experiences. We loved how their passion for dance and music was nurtured in a very fun and supportive atmosphere. We appreciated how the teachers cared about proper technique and anatomical alignment such that every student progressed safely. Most of all, our daughters learned life skills – to make a commitment, to be on time, and to carry themselves with poise and confidence.” – D. Pallisco
