Reaching Every Student
Holy Family is committed to enabling all students to reach their individual potential and to succeed. Every student is unique and each must have opportunities to achieve success according to his or her own interests, abilities, and goals.
Holy Family Achievement School of Académie Ste Cécile International School is a private, co-educational, day and resident, elementary and secondary school committed to reaching the potential of every student. HFAS enables the learning of attainable, comprehensive and remedial education while nurturing individuals, who value themselves and others, by providing an educational foundation that equips students with the ability to think, communicate, create and apply their learning experiences throughout their lifetime.
The philosophy of Holy Family Achievement School is to provide each student with an individualized program designed to meet the student’s needs as an exceptional learner and to enable each student to utilize the potential that he/she possesses to become a well-adjusted contributing member of society. The school accepts students with special educational needs from all races, colours, religions, genders, nationalities and ethnic origins who have successfully completed all registration requirements including entrance assessments, psychological reports and learning recommendations when necessary. The strategies considered are:
- taking into account the background and experiences of all students to meet their diverse interests, aptitudes, and learning needs;
- varying the form of assessment and instructional materials (e.g., printed text, visual or auditory representations);
- using various types of media;
- providing opportunities for different kinds of activities and different means of demonstrating learning;
- providing a safe and supportive environment that enhances students’ ability to learn.
We believe that each student, regardless of exceptionality, is entitled to this opportunity in the least restrictive environment. Our belief is that children can best be served through the cooperative efforts of teachers, principals, support personnel, and parents.
HFAS expects that all of its members, staff and students comport themselves at all times with mutual courtesy and respect to promote harmony among people of diverse faiths.
The building is located off-campus and therefore the students are transported between schools (Holy Family and Ste. Cecile) for their integrated classes. Students will be eligible to attend non-academic classes at Ste. Cecile (drama, gym, music, art, and computers) and eat lunch in the respective dining rooms with same-aged peers encouraging students to develop social skills.
The school provides opportunities for field trips, special days and community integration experiences pertaining to cultural and environmental programs.
