Charmaine Valbuena

“Music is life itself. What would this world be without good music? No matter what kind it is.” ~ Louis Armstrong

Ms. Valbuena is a classically-trained piano teacher who has been teaching at Académie Ste-Cécile since 2017. As a former Académie Ste-Cécile student, Ms. Valbuena received her training under Dr. Thomas Green and achieved her Grade 9 Piano, Intermediate Harmony and History II.

She has been providing elementary piano and theory instruction for a decade in private and group settings at various schools and organizations throughout Windsor and Essex County. Her experience has ranged teaching students from as young as five years old to 65 years old. Students are trained following the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) curriculum. Students explore a wide array of musical genres not limited to classical, pop, jazz, ragtime and gospel. In addition to promoting personal musical development, Ms. Valbuena prepares students for Académie Ste-Cécile Festivals, Kiwanis Music Festivals, RCM exams and public performances.

To maintain relevant in her pedagogical methods, Ms. Valbuena regularly attends RCM and ORMTA workshops. She provides students with well-rounded musical training at the rudimentary level and focuses her pedagogical priorities on tonal and rhythmic competency, healthy posture, reading music, artistry and technique. Ms. Valbuena loves to share her passion for music with her students. She promotes a diverse and inclusive studio where students excel through collaboration, creativity and commitment.
