Bruce Rutter

Bruce Rutter is highly experienced as both a performer and a teacher. His violin studies began in New York and The Royal Conservatory in Toronto. After completing a Mus. BA  at McMaster University, he continued his studies at Queen’s and University of Michigan.

As a performer , he has been a member of the Canadian Opera Company Orchestra, Hamilton Philharmonic, Orchestra London and Windsor Symphony. He also held principal positions on both violin and viola in several orchestras in the Toronto region, as well as in Michigan. He is a frequent chamber and solo performer.

He began his teaching career at The Royal Conservatory of Toronto and since 1984, he has been on faculty at Académie Ste-Cécile. He has taught at St. Clair College and was one of the founding members of Windsor Centre for the Creative Arts. Bruce works with all ages and levels in both traditional and Suzuki methods of teaching. Students from his studio have gone on to university performance studies and are also holding professional positions around the globe.
